Guiding is our passion. Sure we love catching fish on our days off, but sharing the experience is far more rewarding. We are guides and instructors who enjoy helping both beginners and advanced anglers alike. Being a professional guide requires a diverse set of skills, not just being able to put people on fish. A professional guide is patient under pressure, a teacher and coach to their clients, has excellent work ethic in all situations, has a keen sense of awareness and the ability to adapt to different learning styles, fishing styles and personalities. All AFFC guides are endorsed by multiple gear companies which allows us to provide you with the best gear available. We are dedicated to giving you the best service you have ever experienced, and to always enjoy as much river experience as possible while putting fish in the net. We are problem solvers who enjoy the connections and process just as much as the pull. We push each other to be innovative, aware of the fine details and to always anticipate the next move gracefully and with respect. Our first time out with you, we take note of the details that make a difference to you. From the moment we meet you onward, we go the extra miles so you are right where you want to be, fishing better and laughing louder.
Altamont Anglers fly fishing guides have been guiding and teaching anglers since 1986. Our knowledge of the waters around our home of Asheville, NC lets us customize fly fishing trips to your special needs & desires. Asheville fly fishing offers the daytime experience of pristine trout streams set in beautiful Smoky Mountain settings and the evening experience of a vibrant downtown that offers fine dining, entertainment and arts.
You will find our rates for full-day or half-day float trips to be fair and competitive, with quality equipment and expert instruction. Orvis fly fishing gear is standard for all our trips, to match the quality of service provided by our guides. Our guides are CPR certified, and we are fully insured.
When we want the rewards of fishing to more challenging fish, we travel toward Tennessee and the tri-cities area of Johnson City, Elizabethton and Kingsport where we fish the TVA controlled tail-water streams of the South Holston River or the Watauga River. The releases of water below TVA dams on these rivers provides for constant year-round stream temperatures, predictable hatches for us to match, and excellent opportunities for float-fishing that rival the legendary fly fishing rivers of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and the Rocky Mountains.

Found ‘Em Fishing was born out of passion. We love the outdoors, plain and simple. We find our serenity there, and we want to share that. Through education and consciousness, we are out there to protect the beautiful waterways in WNC. There is a special bond between self and nature that almost can’t be explained out there. A peace that so many have forgotten in their daily lives. For us, there is something meditative about smooth paddle strokes through water, come with us, you’ll see.
Join us on our unique day hikes in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains. We offer mindfulness and meditation day hikes where you can disconnect from screens, slow down, and enjoy the gorgeous mountains outside of Asheville, North Carolina. Not into meditation? No problem. We also offer private day hikes that suit what you’d like to see and do on your trip. For our group hikes, once you book with us you’ll receive detailed directions of where to meet us at the trail head. Before our hike we’ll spend 10-20 minutes giving you an overview of mindfulness practices and then hit the trail! We’ll take you to local spots leaving the crowds behind, making sure to point out local flora and fauna along the way. You’ll be shocked how much you notice once you slow down and become more attuned to your senses.
Around noon we’ll find a beautiful spot to break for lunch and enjoy a healthy lunch from a local Asheville eatery. After lunch we’ll spend time swimming, taking in a beautiful view, or admiring a waterfall, all while engaging our 5 senses.
