An anchor fly is a beaded nymph that is weighted to get to the feeding zone quickly. Anchor flies are commonly used in Euro Nymphing and similar tight-line angling methods.
Anchor Fly currently consists of two passionate fly fishing anglers with desires to
- Spend as much time as they can fly fishing
- Share what they learn with others
Our team believes that fly fishing can literally make us better people. In a nutshell—by spending more time in nature and connecting with our surroundings we develop peace and patience in daily life. This is a very cool thing AND is very worthy of some gratitude.
We wish to share our deep respect for the environments we fish in, and the fish that we catch. If we can help develop an increase in respect for even one angler that would mean a great deal.
Because of this, sharing information and research on the culture, philosophy and environmental impact is very important to publish on Anchor Fly.

We love West Asheville! From the very moment we moved here we’ve realized that West Asheville is a special place, full of charm, history, and energy.
West Asheville is an area that moves easily between its old-world history and new-world energy, enjoying the charm of its neighborhoods and the spirit of its quaint main street. It’s both down-to-earth and cutting-edge, with 1920’s bungalows and eco-built new homes, with old brick buildings that house innovative businesses, with an appreciation for its stories and excitement for its future.
West Asheville’s advantages are many and diverse; it’s small enough that people know each other yet large enough to support many local independent businesses. Its proximity to downtown, affordable housing, and walkable streets are only part of what makes it popular.
At West Asheville Real Estate we know West Asheville better than anyone else in real estate because we have invested our time and energy in exploring and discovering everything we can about this unique area. So – come join us! You’ll love it as much as we do.

Farm-to-table American cuisine, craft cocktails & a robust wine list in an upscale-casual setting.
We are a group of cooks, farmers, waiters, cheese-makers, organizers, ranchers, brewers and dishwashers who share a common philosophy about how we eat and in a larger sense, about life.
We believe in the importance of working locally, not just using ingredients from our surrounding area, but also in our contribution to the community. The success of our restaurant has always been closely entwined with the health and progress of our community. For 35 years we have supported the arts, local-needs and education programs.
Our clients have returned over the decades, we hope in part because we have always tried to treat them as family… and friends. Some might say, our food tastes good, perhaps even memorable. Each day, we do our utmost to prepare and present fresh food in a creative manner with a craftsman’s hand. Working in the most sustainable way possible is important.
The Market Place has been a fixture in downtown Asheville since 1979. Though it’s beginnings rose in the streams and mountains of western North Carolina – a place of mountain trout and small farms – it also has a hand and heart inspired by traditions far from our borders. This mélange of local food prepared with other worldly traditions of the table may have helped the Market Place garner national attention but the keen reverence for the heritage and roots of Appalachia has always remained at the center of what we do.
For a more independent stay, try one of our Cabin rentals. Vacation homes include Asheville Mountain Vista (4BR 3BA), Avondale Ridge (6BR 3BA), or Hawk’s View Chalet (4BR 3BA & outdoor pool – inquire about pool openings!). Vacation rentals can be the perfect place for family reunions, corporate group gatherings, girlfriend getaways, wedding groups, or golf retreats. From 3 to 10 miles from Asheville and easy access to downtown Asheville, The Blue Ridge Parkway, The Biltmore Estate, and all of what Western NC has to offer. Each property is wonderfully set up for family reunions and small group gatherings of all kinds. All have added amenities including cable TV, unlimited local & long distance phone, Wi-Fi (wireless Internet access), full amenity kitchens & laundry, all linens & towels provided, additional outdoor entertainment spaces on porches & decks, either a charcoal or gas grill, some with jetted tubs, sauna, hot tub, and/or swimming pool, gas or wood-burning fireplaces (some wood provided to get you started). Additionally, you may purchase discounted Biltmore Estate Tickets, Asheville Trolley Tour tickets, and other area attraction tickets directly from us and have them waiting for you upon your arrival. Your vacation is sure to be enjoyable with a stay at any of these Asheville cabins. We love Asheville, and we’re sure you will too. Home to a variety of arts, crafts, cultural experiences, music, & entertainment, this small mountain town & its neighboring communities have a lot to offer. If experiencing the great outdoors is your goal, staying in one of our locations will put you close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a short drive to hundreds of outdoor destinations, including waterfalls, hikes, fishing spots, & golf. Vacation in Asheville reservation offices are open 9:00 am to 7:00 pm daily, and our friendly and knowledgeable staff members are ready to answer any questions you might have about the area or help you with a booking, and view availability through our booking calendar.
